Remarkably, the windows passed every single test. “Testing can be very challenging within the window industry,” Jeff explains. “All you need is a little bit of sealant to be missing, and that could result in a failure. So for all 1,750 windows to pass every single test – that was a huge accomplishment for us.” Again, a lot of other manufacturers balked at that project, because they didn’t want to modify any of their existing profiles or design something new. Jeff and his team, however, are very open to making alterations based on the needs of their clients. That’s why Alwind has such a strong reputation in the region when it comes to heritage projects, which almost always demand that kind of tinkering. “We’re pretty well known throughout the Kingston area,” Jeff explains. “A lot of heritage projects are out in that part of Ontario, and anytime one of those projects comes up, the consultants usually tell the contractor or the architect to contact us.” In the case of Whitney Block, Jeff recalls that it took a long time for the contractor to find a window manufacturer willing to take on the challenge. Once they found Alwind Industries, however, the project proceeded smoothly. Afterwards, that contractor sent them “a nice letter,” and in the three years since they haven’t been contacted about any warranty issues or leaks.
