A huge accomplishment As an example of what Alwind Industries is capable of, Jeff points to their work on the Whitney Block project in downtown Toronto, which they completed a few years back. There, from the start of design in 2016 to the project completion in 2022, Alwind was involved in a very challenging four-phase retrofit that included 1,750 window replacements. “That project was very unique,” Jeff recalls. “It was a heritage project, and there were some special requirements that a lot of manufacturers turned away from. The architect was adamant that the new profiles had to be within a tenth of a millimetre of matching the existing profiles. That was an extreme challenge.” Between the four phases of the project, there were 22 sub phases, and in each of those sub phases the windows underwent a series of DECEMBER 2025
