Nestled in the heart of Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley, Palmer & Doherty Consulting Inc. has steadily built a reputation as a trusted and versatile engineering and drafting firm. Established in 2017 by professional engineer Tim Palmer, the company has grown from a modest threeperson team into a local go-to resource for a wide variety of construction and planning projects. Over the years, the firm has made their mark across commercial, residential, and agricultural sectors in a region that stretches from Windsor to Greenwood, where the company is based. Tim Palmer’s career laid the foundation for the firm’s success. With roots in engineering for the agricultural sector, including experience overseeing expansions at Eden Valley Poultry and large tilt-up projects at B.D. Stevens in Halifax, Palmer brought both technical expertise and an entrepreneurial spirit to his venture. “Tim has always been business savvy,” says Brenna, an intermediate architectural technologist at Palmer & Doherty who joined in 2019. “He wanted to be his own boss, and starting the company just made sense.” Before founding the firm, Tim gained extensive experience managing large-scale industrial and agricultural projects. He worked as director of engineering at Larson’s Packing Plant, overseeing complex operations unrelated to building construction, before moving on to Eden Valley Poultry, where he managed the expansion of a major industrial plant. Tim then joined B.D. Stevens in Halifax as a project manager for tiltup construction projects, including big-box commercial buildings, providing him with a solid foundation in both technical expertise and largescale project execution. “All of that experience really informs how we approach projects today,” DECEMBER 2025
