The Construction Source

support from all seven municipalities within their jurisdiction. That funding, combined with LRHF’s contribution of capital and land, formed the base that allowed LRHF to qualify for further provincial and federal support. By July 12, 2023, the funding was approved – and within three weeks, construction began. From there, LRHF had just 12 months to complete the project. “It was a very aggressive timeline,” Jill recalls. “But everyone pulled together. The teamwork was outstanding.” That collaboration paid off. The building was completed on time, with tenants scheduled to move in by August 2024. The finished product reflects a strong commitment to both functionality and comfort. “The rooms are spacious, bright, and welcoming,” Tony notes. “The tenants are very happy.” In a significant upgrade from the previous structure, the new building also includes an elevator, improving accessibility for residents in both Gaetz Landing I and II. With Gaetz Landing II now complete, the foundation is turning its focus to Planeview Place, a multi-stage supportive living initiative that aims to replace an aging lodge facility built in the 1960s. While still in the early stages, the project has been declared LRHF’s next priority. Initial planning and fundraising are underway, with the team hoping to secure enough capital over the next few years to qualify for grant funding support. Though still awaiting final cost confirmation, early estimates suggest the total investment could reach $52 million. AUGUST 2025
