Despite the strength of these programs, physical expansion remains a priority, as demonstrated by the recent completion of Gaetz Landing II, a 24-unit affordable housing development that stands as a model for fast, efficient delivery in a sector known for its complexity. Located adjacent to the original Gaetz Landing building, the new facility was officially opened in July 2024 – less than a year after the project received municipal, provincial and federal funding. The story of Gaetz Landing II is rooted in the organization’s preparation, vision, and strategic alignment with government funding timelines. “We always try to have our next project planned and shovel-ready,” Tony says. “When funding becomes available, we’re in a better position than others who might still be in the planning stages.” For Gaetz Landing II, LRHF already had architectural plans developed by RPK Architects and had pre-selected their construction partner, Rescom Construction, through a competitive tender process. Altus Group served as the project lead. Critical to the success of the build was the ability of Margot Hagarty to act quickly.
