Top-of-the-line work When it comes to selecting their construction partners for projects like the Dorion Road Hill redevelopment, Mayor Bélanger explains that cost is an important consideration, but it’s far from the only consideration. “We know what we want, and we do our homework,” he says. “We’re always conscious of the cost, but we’re also conscious of what the applicants bring to the table. Do they have the right equipment? Do they have the right force? Do they have a history? Do they have a portfolio that we can look at? It’s not always the cheapest that wins. We do a pretty in-depth analysis.” On Dorion Road Hill, the bulk of the work is being done by Canor Construction, a company based out of North bay. Construction started on the current phase in July of last year and is estimated to be completed by October of this year. According to Mayor Bélanger, the Town of Mattawa is thrilled with the progress and with Canor’s performance. “They’ve done nothing but top-of-the-line work,” he says. “The communication at all levels with them is excellent. Council is extremely pleased with their work performance, and we’re obviously looking forward to completion. And I’ll guarantee you one thing, when we put out tenders for next phase, they’ll be included.” THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA
