supplies all necessary equipment, and manages the construction process from start to finish. Bryan emphasizes that this comprehensive approach is built on trust and clear communication. “We start with good design, then supply equipment and manage installation. We’re there at just the right time, not too early or too late, keeping the client informed every step of the way.” HESCO’s client base spans beyond traditional restaurants and quick-service chains. Healthcare facilities, senior living centers, grocery stores, large event venues like the new Scotia Events Centre in Calgary, golf courses, and even car dealerships with staff food programs all rely on HESCO’s expertise. “There really is no limit to where commercial kitchens are needed,” Bryan says. This diverse client mix presents unique challenges and opportunities. For instance, healthcare kitchens must meet stringent sanitation and workflow requirements, while event spaces demand flexible, high-volume capabilities. Bryan notes that HESCO thrives on these challenges. “Renovations can be especially tricky,” he explains. “You never know what you’ll find once demolition starts – like unexpected columns or delays – but our team enjoys tackling these surprises and finding solutions.” Internally, HESCO operates with about 50 staff across their Edmonton and Calgary offices, with plans to grow further in Toronto. Many of those team members have been with the company for a long time, and Bryan credits that longevity to a several factors. Firstly, he says the ownership of the company is hands-on and engaged, and they encourage open communication among the entire team. That openness allows for quick decisions to get made quickly, and it helps everyone feel involved and valued. Additionally, Bryan reiterates that HESCO does interesting work and they are always solving new challenges. Speaking personally, he says that’s what’s kept him engaged for over a decade. “Every day is different. New clients, new projects, new challenges. It’s never boring.” THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA
