down Gantt chart (waterfall) project management approach and replaced it with a company-wide agile system inspired by the software world. “We’re the only firm in North America we know of doing 100 percent agile,” Adam says. “The result is teams collaborating around problems, leveraging all their experience and creativity, rather than one person issuing orders.” According to Adam, the new system has led to transformative results, and the reviews from all stakeholders have been exceptionally positive. “We hired a senior engineer with 12 years in the industry who was feeling burnt out, but now he’s feeling revitalized,” he says. “He told us the system gave him flexibility and redundancy. If you go on vacation, your team keeps the project moving so you don’t come back behind schedule. The client always has someone knowledgeable about the project and its intimate details to answer the phone. It’s a win-win.” As part of the company’s recent transformation, they also changed their corporate culture to one that prioritizes both productivity and well-being. Their office environment now includes a golf simulator, ping pong table, PlayStations, Lego sets, and puzzles with prizes – all part of what Adam calls a “deliberately crafted environment where work feeds into life and life feeds back into work in a fulfilling harmony.” Throughout these changes, co-elevate’s commitment to quality client service has never wavered. “Clients liked us before because we do good work, take ownership, and bring technical experts to the table – we’re not just project managers managing budgets,” Adam notes. “Now that mindset and vibe is consistent across all structural and civil teams, no matter who you work with.” THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA
