The Construction Source

A digital breakthrough As examples of what’s possible “when vision meets digital execution,” Tracey points to several recent projects that TD2 worked on at the University of Alberta, where they have done a lot of work over the years – Tracey estimates they have done almost $500,000 million worth of projects for their PMO over the past decade. Back in 2019, they managed the University Commons project, where they implemented the University’s first “BIM Execution Plan.” “In partnership with Clark Builders, Priority Mechanical, Streamline Fire Protection, and Territorial Electric, we conducted a fully coordinated VDC process,” Tracey explains. “Our construction manager was instrumental with coordinating the cadence and goals for the team to stay ahead of construction. Implementing the coordinated model in the field ensured we had little, or no rework and productivity gains were noticeable. What began with cautious optimism matured into a streamlined, repeatable process that once apprehensive project team members now say has redefined their expectations for project delivery.
