The Construction Source

Spectra Advertising is a successful and highly reputable Ontario-based sign company. Since forming in 1993, they have been a leader and an innovator in the local industry. When they were started, they were a two-man operation, with founders Robert and Tony Ascenzi hand painting billboards. Over 30 years later, they are a premier sign making company, with 35 employees operating out of a 9,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, creating almost everything in-house. Soon, they will be operating out of a facility almost twice that size, which will further enhance their capabilities and further cement their industry leadership. Robert Ascenzi Jr., the company’s chief operating officer, grew up in the sign business. When he was as young as seven years old, he would help out his father and uncle in the shop. He officially joined in 2006, at a time when the business was growing by leaps and bounds. “When I got here, we started focusing more on the infrastructure world,” he recalls. “We started tendering community centres, libraries, rec centres, and government buildings – projects like that. We’ve really found our niche in that field.” Within that niche, Robert says what sets Spectra apart is their reliability. “We meet our dates,” he says. “The sign industry is a funny industry. The signs are often the last thing on a construction project that people think about, and by the time they think of them, they need them right away. They need them to get done. That’s where we shine. We move heaven and earth to make sure that we make the date happen.” “Whatever it takes,” he adds. “Whatever we need APRIL 2025
