In both scenarios, he believes his clients choose him for his depth of knowledge and expertise, which he has cultivated over his four-plus decades in the industry. “What you get with me is you get 45 years of experience,” he says. “You get a track record of delivering significant built architecture in the GTA, in Vancouver, in Calgary, and elsewhere. You’re getting my oversight and my knowledge. You’re getting an assurance that your building will be well-designed and drawn, it will be cost-effective, and it will ultimately be built.” “I’m starting off with a huge portfolio of completed work, and all the knowledge that comes with it,” he adds. “I like to believe that I’m well-regarded in the industry, that I’m known as a knowledgeable architect that can be relied on.” Steven has been working with all of his current clients for many years now. Going forward, he expects that to remain true, as past clients are keeping him plenty busy, and there’s a limit to how much KUA can do as a smaller firm. “And I don’t want to grow the practice right now,” he says. “I want to keep it small and steady.
