THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA Becoming more proactive Every year, the County of Northern Lights embarks on a massive regravelling program for all their gravel roads. Charles estimates they do about 145,000 tonnes worth of surfacing per year. During winter, that means they have to do a lot of crushing, as they need to amass a significant stockpile before construction season starts. And now that construction season is starting, Charles says that gravel program will be taking up a lot of their attention. Beyond the re-gravelling, Charles says they will be doing a lot of crack sealing on their asphalt roads and their airport, along with some rural water hook-ups for applicants close enough to their water lines. Charles says that represents most of what they do from a public works perspective.
