In these situations, Lisa sits down with them and works very closely to conceptualize their vision. “I’ve got a knack of understanding what the client really wants deep down inside,” she says. “I really go into their mind and figure out what it is that they want and need.” The experience, insightfulness and client-first mentality AC Projects brings when consulting with their customers is what helps Lisa, as a designer, read between the lines of her client’s design goals. Alex says Lisa “picks up” on keywords the client tells her, even when the client doesn’t fully realize what they’re saying or what they’re looking for from a design standpoint. “I really put them at ease and I go, ‘Not to worry, I know the questions that I should be asking,’” says Lisa. Beyond customer satisfaction, what sets AC Projects apart is how current and up-to-date they are when it comes to building trends and technologies. From cement exhibits to kitchenware shows, both Alex and Lisa make it a point to attend trade shows all over the world in order to keep up with the latest innovations in the home renovation space and present them to their clients. Lisa describes herself as a “traditional designer” – she focuses on timeless designs that incorporate current technologies and designs. “When I go back and see that house 15 years from now, I’m not going to go ‘Oh, that’s a 1980s house.’ APRIL 2024
