In his time there, Ryan has seen the company grow and evolve significantly – particularly in BC, where he has been based ever since Park Derochie acquired a locally-based company coating and painting company. Over the last three years, especially, Ryan estimates the company has actually “more than quadrupled their revenue” after downsizing just a few years earlier. He credits that growth to their elimination of their shop space and their pivot to a field-only service model, and also their decision to focus on mostly major projects such as LNG Canada and the Site C Clean Energy Project. “We really changed our game plan,” he recalls. “We decided to be really nimble and flexible and to leverage the fact that we have support from other provinces in terms of expertise, labour resources, and equipment.” “In Edmonton, we have a lot of experience with large projects,” he continues. “We’ve been on Kearl Lake and Fort Hills – some really large industrial projects worth billions of dollars. They need hundreds of painters up there and they need a company who can project manage that huge scope, and we’ve been that for them.
