for my family.” “In 2014 I started looking for opportunities to do more than just private contracting. In private consulting, it’s all about billable hours. You work an hour; you get paid for an hour. You are not really building an asset other than your reputation.” Munsoor says his search for a business to buy was based on some important criteria. “Number one, it needed be a proven existing business. Number two; it should be one that could be a platform for additional growth or expansion. The third was that I should be able to afford it. This might seem obvious, but when you buy an elephant, you have to feed it. Along with acquiring the assets of the business and its customer list, the company’s two fulltime employees also came with the deal. One was a ticketed red seal journeyman millwright (still employed by QMMS), and the other was an unticketed millwright, who Munsoor described as “a highly competent person who knew the trade, he’d been working in it for a long time but wasn’t trained formally as a millwright.” For Munsoor, running a millwright business wasn’t a totally foreign concept. “I understand machines. I like building things and I do a lot of that on my own as a hobby,” he explains. THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA
