Colin Griffinson Inc. is a Vancouver-based highend home painting company with a rich history in painting dating back to 1780, when the Griffinson family started up their trade in Ireland. Generations of Griffinson family members carried on the family business until the 1980s, when Colin Griffinson moved to Vancouver and established his eponymous company. In the years since, Colin Griffinson Inc. has steadily built an unrivalled reputation as a luxury home painter in the Lower Mainland, becoming recognized by homeowners, builders, and design professionals alike for their combination of master European craftsmanship with modern artistic expression. Melissa Heer, Colin’s daughter, is the current leader of the company. In 2005, she started working part-time for her father’s business as a receptionist and quickly fell in love with the fast-paced, challenging environment of the construction industry. “I loved how everybody had these kinds of creative obstacles that had to be solved all the time,” Melissa recalls. She went back to school at British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in architectural building technology and quickly rose up the ranks of the business, moving into estimating and then project management roles. In 2015, she took the reins of Colin Griffinson Inc. as Vice-President. Today, Colin Griffinson Inc. does everything from interior and exterior painting to staining to decorative art to heritage restoration to Venetian plaster finishes. Their workshop studio is also equipped with a full showroom, a decorative studio and a spray booth.
