fortunate to have a founder who set us up for success – and I’m personally very fortunate to have a dad who trained me up and taught me what it means to deliver quality.” Over the years, Verhoef Electric has served the local Niagara, Lincoln, Hamilton, and Haldimand regions, and they have also completed projects in Toronto, London, Ottawa, and in Nova Scotia. Today, they mainly work in Niagara and the surrounding regions, though they will travel further afield for past clients. Their work now spans the residential, commercial, and horticultural sectors, and their projects can vary greatly in size and value – they do everything from service calls to new builds valued up to $2 million. In all sectors, many of Verhoef Electric’s clients are longstanding, like Kevin previously mentioned. Some they have been working with for 20-to-30 years: “There are a number of clients we’ve been working with ever since my dad started the company in ’84,” Kevin says. “They just trust us to take care of them. If they are ever doing an addition or an expansion, they come to us first.” Kevin credits that loyalty, firstly, to the company’s attentive customer service. He says they will “always pick up the phone for a customer.” “That’s a small thing, but surprisingly it means a lot to people – not just for existing customers, but new customers too. We often hear from new clients, ‘Wow, you’re the first electrician to pick up the phone. You’re the first one to actually answer and get back to me.’” NOVEMBER 2023
