Loving a challenge As a recent example of what Method Homes is capable of, Chris cites a heritage building on Parliament Street that the company finished renovating late last year. He calls that building “probably the most distressed building we’ve ever worked on.” The building was originally a large duplex. Method Homes’ mission was to transform it into a mixed-use property, with retail-commercial space on the main floor, commercial space on the second floor, and residential space on the third floor. When they started the project, Chris says they were surprised to learn how distressed the building really was. For example, they learned that the previous owner before their client had started to dig out the basement without doing any engineering or acquiring a permit. As a result, the “whole building began to fall into Parliament Street,” Chris recalls. MAY 2023
