The Construction Source

“We put a lot of time and effort into our relationships,” Jared says. “That starts with our communication. In our experience, communication is the most important part of any relationship, and the client-builder relationship is no exception.” “When the communication is not there, that’s when things can go awry,” he adds. “When it comes to details, to schedule, to budget, communication is the key. We make sure our clients know exactly what they are getting, when they’re getting it, and what it’s going to cost them. That’s helped us to build some amazing relationships with our clients.” Jared first began his career in the construction industry right out of high school, when he worked for several local builders while completing his apprenticeship. Before striking out on his own, his longest tenure was with a company called Sargeant Custom Carpentry, where he worked as a project manager. A couple years after forming his own company, he went on to acquire that company – allowing him to work again beside his old boss, Dan Sargeant, who is now an equal partner in North Wood. Today, North Wood focuses primarily on new home construction – they still do the occasional renovation, which is what they started off doing, but new construction is their bigger passion and bigger area of focus. In terms of size and value, their projects can range greatly, in terms of geography, they are prepared to travel 40 kilometres in any direction from their base in Haileybury, and in terms of volume, they are actively developing an inhouse crew big enough to take APRIL 2023
