Peter Schmid is the founder and majority owner of Hovr Strong Solutions. He came to Canada from Germany in 1999, and has over 25 years of construction and management experience. His journey to creating the Hovr Bracket System started with him helping a friend who had moved into a small and narrow apartment. The friend wanted to put several items on the wall to save space, but every time he tried to put something up, he would hit a void in the wall – he just couldn’t find a stud. Peter came over the next day to help and discovered there were only aluminum studs every 36 inches or more. Undeterred and resolved to help, the future Hovr Solutions founder went home and started researching solutions. He recalls “searching high and low,” but the only floating shelf solution he could find was the traditional two-prong system – a design that has major weaknesses and only has an average load capacity of 50-to100 pounds.
