When it comes to their inhouse team, lastly, John says the company’s relationships are just as strong – and they are also built on the values of mutual honesty, transparency, and respect. The company has worked hard to recruit and retain a team that practices those values and that fit the culture they are building. “The fit of the person within the company, personality, work ethic – those things you can’t teach, and they are so important,” he says “We try to get people that are teamplayers and that have knowledge and the will to learn. That’s really critical to us.” Moving forward, Seagate’s goal is to maintain that culture and to continue building stronger relationships with all their clients. Although growth is on the table, John says the company is currently secure in their position, and anything that could jeopardize their position is not considered an option. “There is room to grow, but we want to grow at our own pace,” John says. To Seagate, this means strategic hiring and expansion, rather than hiring to fill holes in projects and skipping steps when it comes to the due diligence required for an effective hire. That way, quality isn’t risked as the company grows and Seagate can maintain and grow their reputation as “the reliable choice.” In the near future, Seagate’s plan is to stick to their strategy. There are no intentions for the firm to start moving into bigger projects or into more institutional jobs. Their current vision is to focus on smaller, mainly commercial jobs, and any expansion will come organically from that. The future for Seagate looks solidified, with a strong confident team who understands the value of hard work, honesty, and patience – it’s hard to see a future where this doesn’t prove to be a great combination.
