This precarious balance is at the heart of our approach.” “Many of our projects address this human-nature connection, often in the public domain, by engaging the user or occupant with their environment through a sensitive experience, putting science and technology at the forefront of this interaction,” he continues. Many of KANVA’s projects also integrate environmental sustainability, and several members of the team are LEED accredited. Due to the current environmental challenges, the firm believes it’s important to design and build efficiently, and they always advocate env i r onmen t a l l y - f r i end l y design solutions. A prime example of a project that ticks all the aforementioned boxes is the 2021 Biodôme Museum Renewal Project. There, KANVA won an international competition to renovate the interior of Montreal’s Biodôme with a design that “rethinks the relationship between humankind and nature” and that “bolsters the centre’s NOVEMBER 2022
