The Construction Source

personality-wise. We’re going to be spending a lot of time together and we’re going to be working on something that’s really personal to them – their home.” That’s why it’s important, Madeleine adds, that she is there personally from the start. That way, both parties can make sure they are right fit for the other. Communication, comfort, and understanding is key. During that initial meeting, Madeleine and the client discuss in detail the client’s needs, wishes, timeline, and budget. If the meeting goes well, Madeleine Design Group will create a detailed proposal outline the scope of work, deliverables, and pricing structure for the client’s approval. If the project is a go, Madeleine and her team will then support clients through the rest of the process in its entirety – from concept to construction to completion. “We’re very involved in the whole process,” Madeleine says. “We’re a full-service design firm. We have an extremely detailed process. It starts with us really understanding who the client is, how they’re going to live, who’s living in the house, how they cook, how they clean – all these things are discussed very early in the project.” “It’s really involved,” she reiterates. “We’re really getting into their lives and how they work and play in their space. Then we present a very professional and detailed package of construction specifications and drawings for the builder to build from. That’s all done prior to any kind of construction starting.” From there, Madeleine Design Group is there to ensure a seamless process during construction. They work closely and collaboratively with the contractors, performing virtual walkthroughs or in person site visits during crucial stages in order to ensure the project is being executed in a timely and accurate manner. “Once we’ve issued our construction package, and once the budget is approved, we transfer over to a site coordination contract,” Madeleine explains. “That means we’re available during construction for all the milestones that would require the design team to come through. We’ll be there for rough-in inspection. We’ll walk through at framing to make sure all the framing dimensions are as per planned – or if there are any changes that need to happen due to existing conditions, we’ll implement those changes in our construction package then, so everyone remains on the same page.” As an additional service, Madeleine Design Group also offers full-service interior decorating, where they will curate a furniture and décor package to enhance the client’s newly-designed home. Their knowledgeable team is able to assist with sourcing and purchasing based on the client’s budget and needs, and they will also work with existing furniture or personal pieces that they would like to keep, ensuring that everything will be complimentary. “We can provide a true turnkey service,” Madeleine says. “We can make it so that at the end of the process all the client needs to do is come in and sleep in their bed – which has already been made for them. It’s always fun for us when we get to do that.” MAY 2022
