The Construction Source

The project started a couple years ago with a studio, which was a renovation of a 40-yearold barn on the property. Velocity Projects is now working on a 7,800 square foot custom home with “extravagant landscaping around it, a pool, a quarter-acre trout pond, and an underground bunker – it’s a unique place, for sure.” Again, Daniel says he has workedwith that client a lot, and he’s proud of the relationship they have maintained, even in challenging circumstances. “Since we’ve started, we’ve had to juggle COVID, supply issues, and cost increases – and at the end of the day, we’re still good friends,” he explains. “You can’t ask for anything more than that.” Moving forward, Daniel’s goal is to continue to build relationships like that one, and ideally, continue to deliver similarly “unique and captivating” projects. Along the way, he and Joshua also want to continue growing the company, particularly in the commercial realm. “We’d love to be a medium-tolarge general contracting firm within the next five years,” he says. “That could mean anywhere from 50 to 100 guys. We’re really focused on building our team.” As they build that team, Daniel says they are looking for “people with a passion for their job.” “We all know that we have to make money, we have to get paid, we have to support our families,” he says. “But it can’t be all about making money. We want everyone here to also feel proud of what they’re doing and to feel a sense of accomplishment when they finish a project. They have to have a general passion for construction.” Team members also have to be “honest and accountable,” Daniel adds. Those are the values that drewhimand Joshua together in the first place, and they require their staff to be on the same page. “Honesty is key in this game,” he concludes. “You have to hold yourself to a high moral standard. We believe that’s why we’ve been able to grow and be successful. We never want to lose sight of that.” MARCH 2022
