We make sure that everybody’s interests and expectations are realistic and aligned.” “That either attracts people to us, or it polarizes them in the opposite direction,” Dan admits. “But that’s for the best, because it means we only end up working with the right clients. If it’s not a good fit, it’s better to know right away.” Emmett Leo Homes – and Dan specifically – has also built a reputation for being handson, and providing a personal touch. When he was entering the market, Dan recalls hearing horror stories from clients who couldn’t get in touch with the builder in charge. “They would hand the client off to a project manager, or multiple project managers, and they wouldn’t really know what’s going on,” Dan says. “That’s not the case here. I deal with every client personally and I know what’s going on on-site at all times.” That intense personal involvement also means that Dan is able to keep a tight grasp on quality. He personally signs off on everything the company hands over, and if something is not up to his standards, he’ll make sure corrections are made. At the same time, he is also quick to share credit with his collaborators. Dan says that every single project stakeholder is an integral contributor. “We use a process we call integrated project delivery,” he explains. We allow everyone inside the circle.
