The Construction Source

FEBRUARY 2021 “We’ve spent a lot of time developing relationships with modular construction and prefabricated construction companies,” Jerry explains. “That’s an innovation that’s come around and left, but I think now it is here to stay. I think it’s going to continue to grow rapidly in Canada. I think Canada is actually lagging in the development of those technologies compared to Europe and Asia and even the United States, and I think there’s a lot of opportunity there as we start to catch up.” As Buttcon evolves, however, Jerry says they will be cautious not to compromise the culture and the reputation they have developed over the past 40 years. He says the company will only grow if they have the right people in place to support that growth. “We want to grow, but we want to grow sustainably,” he says. “We don’t have a five-year plan. We’re not going to say ‘Let’s double or triple our business in five years,’ just because that sounds good. We want to grow responsibly and ethically. Our focus now is on finding the right people.” In general, he concludes that Buttcon will continue to pursue the same vision they always have, the same vision that Michael Butt had when he first founded the company – “to be the construction partner of choice for owners, trade contractors, and employees.”
